The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has suspended Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, a former Minister of Interior, over allegations of anti-party activities.
According to a letter from the Disciplinary Committee, Aregbesola’s actions contravene the APC’s constitution.
The committee has requested a written explanation from Aregbesola within 48 hours to avoid further disciplinary actions.
The allegations against Aregbesola include
1. Creation of parallel organs within the party.
2. Factionalisation of the party through splinter groups ( Omoluabi Caucus).
3. Collaborating with opposition parties to undermine APC in Osun State.
4. Public outbursts against party leaders, including:
– President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
– Chief Bisi Akande
– Governor Gboyega Oyetola
5. Refusal to support or participate in party activities in Osun State.
6. Refusal to vote for the party since the 2023 general elections.
The letter signed by the Secretary of APC State Disciplinary Committee, Comrade Waheed Adediran addressed to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola 48 hours to formal reply allegations level against him.
“Therefore, and in accordance with Article 21 of the APC Constitution and the resolution of the Ilesa East Local Government Executive Committee (the Complainant), you are hereby requested to submit a formal explanation of why disciplinary actions should not be taken against you within 48 hours of receipt of this letter.
“Your response will enable the Disciplinary Committee to investigate the matter objectively and in accordance with due process entrenched in our constitution.
“Your failure to provide
a written explanation as requested may leave the Committee with no option than to proceed with further actions in accordance with the Party’s Constitution.
“We urge you to take this matter seriously and act responsibly in line with Committee’s request.
