The Commissioner for Information and Public Engagement, Barrister Kolapo Alimi, has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) fully participated in the local government election concluded on February 22nd, 2025.
Alimi revealed this on Wednesday during a media chat with Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) in his office, stating that the main opposition party, APC, spent millions of naira in the recent election in the state.
According to him, APC candidates vying for the posts of chairmen and councilors filled out the forms, and were subsequently screened.
Alimi said that all the 18 political parties participated in the local government, saying withdrawal of the APC was 11 hours to election.
“The local government election was conducted in the state, and all political parties participated. However, the APC withdrew 11 hours before election, after they have undergone screening and in the eye of the law they fully participated in the election. The APC’s nominated candidates had undergone screening, put up posters, and campaigned. The party’s subsequent actions are merely an afterthought.
“As it is today, there are no two sets of chairmen in Osun; there is only one lawful and legally recognized chairman based on the election, not even the PDP chairmen they are referring to. After the election, they become the chairmen; that’s the rule.
